the sars virus fatal count is increasing daily....today there's a new case in spore, brought in by a lady who came back from HK. this shows the lax in the security screening at the airport, for failing to detect such cases. pray hard that no new cases will arise and that a cure can be found really quickly!

the worm in my jumping beans has emerged. was looking at the small container with the beans and noticed a brownish insect in it. then i noticed a small opening on the side of one of the beans and concluded that the insect must have hatched from the bean. can't really identify what it is tho....looks kinda like a small grasshopper.

decided to rent james patterson's new novel ''2nd chance'" from a 2nd hand bookshop in westmall. i dun wanna wait soooo long to reserve that book from the library. moreover, it's not even available for loan as yet. it will cost me $4 to read it if i return the book within 2 months. quite a good deal as compared to the long waiting time if i were to borrow from lib and if i were to buy the book. anyway, it's not always that i rent books. in fact, i think it's my first time !

got my 1st birthday present for this yr....it's a clarins facial treatment voucher. it includes facial and shoulders massage....would be an interesting experience as well as an eye opener for me. many thanks to my friend who gave it to me ! :)

the news that uni, ite and poly students still have to go to school has brought about lotsa debate. are they supposed to be wiser and have stornger resistance to the virus?? it seems kinda ridiculous to make them continue school while the other levels stop completely till 6th apr. actually, they might as well ask everyone to stay in. adults are also vunerable to the virus. it's spreading like wildfire each day.....another 4 pple got infected today. i believe the number of still climbing....hope that a cure can be found real soon.

that aside, we often take things/people around us for granted. we're so caught up in our 'routine' life that sometimes we fail to notice the little things around us. i think it's quite sad as it would tend to mean that we do not cherish those things/people. to cherish a thing/person once it/she/he is gone, it's pointless. ok, i dunno what point i'm actually driving yet...but a sms from a friend this evening prompted this thought in me. so do take some time to step back and look around you.....appreciate the things around you, go give your loved ones a hug and most of all, live life to the fullest............

spore schools, namely pri to jc levels, are closed from tomorrow till 6th apr for fear of the sars virus outbreak. there has been 1 death in spore already. it's very scary and spreads real fast. so far docs have not been able to find a cure for this horrible virus. let's pray for the best...... now we've been told to avoid all the crowded areas...so no shopping for the time being. think the safest is to stay at home....

got my latest copy of TIME from the mail...it's quite thick and has the heading "gulf war 2" , coupled with a photo of an explosion of saddam's presidential palace. hope this war will end soon....many innocent lives are lost....

thinking of subscribing to newsweek once my TIME subscription ends. realised that as i grow older, i begin to read such magazines. formerly in sec sch/jc, i just couldn't sit still to read those magazines which were recommended by our teachers to improve our english and general knowledge. am thinking of getting national geographic as well.....

beginning to develop some kind of interest in photography...prob inspired by my cousin. he has a strong passion for photography. saw some of this works and he was sharing some tips with me during the funeral wake. prob go read up or surf around for something interesting.......it might just fuel my interest in photography. esp since i got a digi cam, it's much cheaper to view the photos instead of having to develop a whole roll and wasting them (if they don't turn out good).

was busy with my grandma's funeral for the past few days. she passed away peacfully ( but rather suddenly ) on thurs evening. didn't have much sleep for the past few days as a few of us had to take turns to stay up to keep watch at the wake. today's the last day of the funeral...she was cremated in the afternoon at mt vernon. tomorrow morning we're gonna collect the ashes and place them in the temple where my grandfather is. hope they'll be reunited in the other world.

listening to norah jones 'don't know why'....very soothing to listen to in the night...moreover i'm on leave till mon!!!!!!!!! hahahahahaha....that's the best part!!!! can rot and plan my stuff....also got some things to do...

i'm so thankful for the break....today got lotsa problems at work...even all the way till 7.30pm++...haiz....looks like it's gonna be hell when i get back on mon. anywa, push work all out of my head!! i REALLY need a break else i'm gonna go CRAZY soon.....it's kiling me. i feel so sick and i wanna throw in the towel but i know i cannot.....life's unfair and i know that. well, just let me complain.....just wanna let everything out.

hm...can stay late tonight...can watch all my tv shows and go online to just rot.............it's fun so rot or just stone there. a welcome change from the usual hectic lifestyle. we never take time to smell the roses and admire the surroundings. i doubt we would ever have the time as it's very difficult to break away from our routine lifestyle. if only we can follow the aussies laid back lifestyle...it's so much better....work mon to fri and rest on weekends.

war is approaching...feels kinda scary. it's already starting to affect businesses esp in my industry. all the airlines have increased their fuel surcharge. rates are surging and some people predict that airlines are going to face a huge backlog when the war starts as they cannot fly to certain destinations. can imagine my big headache coming........

bush just wanna save his face...since he has declared war on iraq, he really has to go to war. sometimes i wonder if they've tot of all the innocent people....the millions of people who are against war, the millions of people suffering.....the endless struggle.........

first time popping into hooters last nite with 2 friends...an eye-opener. haha...the girls are quite ok...not very chio...and of coz their figure are generally good. (as the chinese phrase goes....qian tu hou qiao). it's pretty obvious the crowd is male dominated. it's pretty entertaining as there're games and mini contests where contestants can join to win prizes. there's even a lucky draw for a all you can eat chicken wings for 20 people!

been a very tiring weekend for me....having panda eyes now now....2 big black rings...horrible!! for the first time in a long time, i woke up past noon!! whoa! think shall stay home to rest today...also need to clear some stuff at home, and of coz not forgetting to download all my songs and mtvs. :P

yet another day i managed to go home early. tml my car will be sent to the scrap yard. it's almost running for 10 yrs...how time flies. dropped 2 of my colleagues on my way home this evening. had a very fun chat along the way. one of them (26 this yr) is actually a baker in training! my goodness...with his somewhat ah beng looks, you just can't imagine him in the white attire and apron, baking bread and cakes in the kitchen.

was glued to the computer game 'ming xin ma jiang' just now. couldn't stop playing...quite addictive. i'm still not very good at mahjong tho. prob the computer games are much easier as they give hints and some of the steps are automated. fun game... should get a copy of it as it helps to kill time very quickly!

finally got a chance to go online again. been busy lately...also got myself a new computer, so i'm unable to use the internet till my broadband account kicks in some time in mid march. ya...waiting in great anticipation. :)

someone just asked me to give up my job since i'm alwiz so stressed up. she gave up hers in 3 months (in another company) as she cannot stand it anymore. lucky girl... she's from a relatively well to do family. unfortunately there're a lot of factors to consider before throwing in the towel these days...esp when the economy is bad. just hv to bear with it and look upon it as a challenge i suppose.
