Happy Year of the Dog

funnily enough, i dun feel any festive mood during this cny. it's perhaps i'm getting older or there's just no atmosphere. yesterday collected the bulk of my ang pows from my relatives. today would be just 2-3 families coming over to my house for dinner.

this yr's ang pow collection was better than last coz of some cousins who got married. would be expecting a few from my colleagues as well..hiak hiak. hope it would be enough to recoup my expenditure during my recent tokyo trip. hahahaa...

yesterday at my grandma's house, my cousins and i were comparing our age gaps. it seemed only like last week when we were all schooling and in our teens. now most of us are in our 20s...almost half have started working already. time flies... with the younger generation getting older, it means our parents have aged as well. i'm considered the 'older' batch among my cousins...so i guess indirectly the pressure's on to get married soon. fortunately, this yr my usually irritating uncle is unable to join in the cny celebrations as his mum passed away last nov. his family is alwiz the one who will suan until flat flat...keep on asking about boyfrens and when getting married. so irritating...as if there's no other topics to talk about.

anyway, hope i dun put on any extra weight during this festive season. i didn't eat a lot except for drinking of canned drinks due to the hot weather. ought to weigh myself tmr evening and see if there's any wt diff. :P

updates

just some short notes...lately been lazy to write...

1) went for tokyo auto saloon from 12th jan 16th jan 06. an eye opener. japanese got damn lot of regulations. must wear the uniform in a certain style, must stand in a certain posture, when taking breaks must wear overcoat so that pple dunno which brand you're from, etcetcetc. all becoz of image. goodness...

the weather was ultra shiok coz it's only 3-5 degrees. didn't buy much stuff coz things are not cheap over there.

2) just got home from chinatown. went there with colleague to soak in the CNY mood. not as packed as i expected but it was rather crowded. bought some sweets for the ralliart pit and myself. hahaa....

3) 1 of my ex uni mates joined FHM's girl next door contest. happened to chance upon an editorial in TODAY newspaper. went to tell my uni frens about it. i admire my fren's courage to join. well...good in a way she's confident abt her figure. however, most of us are just laughing it off. hahahahaaa

walking in the rain

it feels kinda theraputic to walk in the rain. i'm not talking about a light drizzle, but a rather heavy one. it has been raining for the whole of today. yet, i've decided to venture out in the heavy rain to nearby Jurong East to run some errands. it wasn't urgent but i just wanted to go out.

the downpour blocks out all other 'noises' around u. u only listen to the constant pitter patter of the rain hitting the concrete ground. as i walk into numerous puddles of water, the cold numbs my toes and send shivers up my back. luckily i wore a jacket in preparation for the rain. it's a nice feeling stepping into puddles.

went to the lib and found a window seat. as i read my novel, the muscial rhythm of raindrops tapping against the windows sound so melodic. feels soothing listening to it.

frens may think i'm crazy to go out in the heavy downpour...but i guess it's something different from the usual routine. anyway, the walk in the rain makes me feel more relaxed and allows me to enjoy a slow sunday afternoon. ;)

happy 2006

been wanting to upload an entry for the new year but my pc became cranky again. had a fun time counting down to the new year with 2 of my ex colleagues and 1 of my current colleague. became fast frens with 2 of my current colleagues. 1 of them is a yr younger than me,prob that's y we can click well.

lotsa changes at work place. service centre has moved to lengkee and the ralliart pit has been reduced to half its original size. workwise, things are still ok. altho i'm very AMAZED at the people who got promoted. reality is often cruel. u need to know the "right" people in order to get promoted. so sad......

that aside, hope all go well for me. i got a feeling it's gonna be a fantastic yr ahead! oh yeah!
